Focus on the County Cup
Long Range Team Championship for the County Cup – properly entitled the NSRA County Challenge Bowl - is shot annually and is open to teams representative of County Associations affiliated to the NSRA.
The competition is shot by teams are of 12 (reduced from teams of 20 in 2005), each shooting 20 shots at 50 yards or metres and 20 shots at 100 yards.
The inscription on the trophy betrays a colourful history for the original County Cup:
“Presented by Imperial Chemical Industries Limited to the National Smallbore Rifle Association in commemoration of the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 1953 to replace the SMRC County Challenge Cup which was destroyed by enemy bombing of London on May 10th and 11th 1941”
Medal awarded to the winners.
